The wet track at Daytona has slowed motorcycles down. Dunlop has had to scrap plans for extensive testing of motorcycle tires as a result.
DAYTONA BEACH, FL, JAN 19 – Anyone expecting clarity from the second Daytona Dunlop tire test came away disappointed.
Yes, the factory riders were at the top, as expected, but the lack of quality track time forced the teams and Dunlop to forego the extensive testing they were hoping would put them in better stead for the season-opener here at Daytona in seven weeks.
All of the serious contenders were in Daytona, though some may have wished they weren’t. The test was scheduled over two days-half a day Monday and all of Tuesday-but the reality was that the Superbike riders would get a little over an hour on the 2.90-mile short course.
